Founded in 1999, Ensemble Noir strives to promote cultural and artistic diversity in contemporary classical music. Our artistic vision encompasses new music from a broad range of cultures with an emphasis on composers from Africa and its Diaspora. Through concerts, educational activities, residencies and recording projects, Ensemble Noir explores the landscape where the cultures of the world merge with contemporary music.

Following a historic tour to Africa, the 2004/2005 season, entitled Sonic Revival, consists of an exciting blend of fresh sounds from Asia, Africa and Canada. The series features works by modern masters Luciano Berio and Karlheinz Stockhausen, alongside music by Kevin Volans, John Kameel Farah, Akin Euba, Alice Ho, Martin Scherzinger, Keiko Abe, Yi Linding, Ruth Lomon and Bongani Ndodana. This year will also see Ensemble Noir launch its first worldwide call for scores for young composers who explore cultural diversity in their music.

Come join us in what promises to be an electrifying experience.
